Nea for me, an avid gourmand fan, is hit and miss. When it's me, myself and Pari (that's the name i answer to lol), Nea is right up my alley. The not-too-dense opening of dates in conjunction with the balancing effects of semi-tart pomegranates and plums, the added vanilic ambry ecosystem that closes in on these ingredients, the mellow caramel intervention, and the glimmering green and woodsy notes in the mix are all there for me to enjoy the scent through and through (the drydown gets musky). But, there's a catch and that's the way people perceive this. They always say it smells like one of those fruity hooka flavors. And this comment is potent enough to put me off the frag. But I love it, love it, love it. Also on my skin, the longevity and projection are not all too bad. Quite above average.

Petula009

Very smooth and not overly sweet scent, despite the notes and reviews. It smells delicate and not sickly sweet, it is a perfect balance for me. When I first sprayed it, I was sure there is a honey note - very well balanced and not overly sweet. I was looking forward for the sillage and longevity to be a beast mode on me, but iˇthe sillage is pretty intimate and longevity is very poor - 2 hours tops. Not sure if this is a sample issue. Other than that, beautiful sweet scent.

Very sweet and dense!

nerzan

overely sweet. And normally I like sweet perfumes. this one made my stomach sick.

XeniaKoneva

It starts with plum syrup dripping from a sugar cane - a very gooey, jammy, and sweet gourmand-esque scent. Indeed, smells like dates and ripen plums! After a while, it transforms and gets a hint of lipstick (maybe rose?). There is something in the mix of middle notes that reminds me of Guerlain DNA, and I would have probably said it is Guerlain's creation if I tested Nea blindly. Notes I hear the most are: dates, rose, Tonka, benzoin, and musk.
I'm in love with this scent, (heck, I almost spent my last £150 on it!) but my husband said that it reminds him of vape juice, and I kinda see what he means.

TwigS

Smells like a sweet and lovely girl. Fruits mix with flowers, add some powder milk, white musk and very little wood. It's a happy scent, girly and easy to wear.

RisingChaos

A fruity caramel syrup with an uplifting floral presence that keeps it from getting too thick and sticky. The rose is a smidge more prominent than other flowers, but there's a lot going on and it's all seamlessly blended. The dates, rich plum, and soft caramel base as it dries impart a sort of light booziness, and the patchouli adds a green touch. Moderate projection fades over 3-5hr, longevity 12hr+.

I guess I should've looked at the description of Pom spicy, leather fantasy note. I get a light scent overall. Mango with hot sauce, black pepper. I have been looking for a spiced Viro Mango type. This maybe it. I have Hanae by Hanae which I find similar to this and Flowerbomb. Going to give it sometime. This and Dulce Diablo may be the next FB. Fingers crossed!

FB purchased a month or 2 ago. Immaculate scent. The price you can't beat it. I feel this will be similar to The Stylist with the tamarind being similar to the Pomegranate note.

This is a gorgeous every day scent! As some have said, at first spray is does have a slight hairspray or fancy body wash vibe to it, but there is just enough spiciness that makes it feel more like a perfume than a beauty product. It just smells so darn good... fruity, fresh, spicy.

AquaBaby5

This is so sharp and tart but also has a definite shampooey or hairspray vibe.

Noticed below I’m not the only one with the hairspray comparison.

Love this perfume! It’s so unique and exotic. Definitely stands out of the crowd. It’s pink and juicy and rich and tart all at the same time. Sometimes I get more dates, sometimes cacao and rose- but mostly I get cherries jubilee! 🍒 🤤
It has only turned sour once on my wrist (this has happened before with other tart notes) but otherwise (neck & shoulders/clothes) it’s a tad fresh and mainly sweet. Just beautiful.

SailorV

I'm a little torn on Néa. Not between liking or disliking it, I definitely like it a lot, it's just hard to say how much. This has the perfect warm depth I love in perfumes and don't find often enough. The plum, dates and pomegranate blend into one beautiful dark fruity accord that is almost a little berry-ish, very juicy and rich without going completely syrupy, retaining just a hint of tartness. Yes, it's really that marvelous. Caramel and benzoin make for an an extremely warm and creamy, balsamic base that carries the fruit notes all through the drydown. Patchouli and musk peek through more and more to give the fragrance a hint of sensuality that takes it out of the pure gourmand realm. The florals are very, very subtle, but I can sense a hint of rose.

So, what's not to love? Only one little thing. There is a slightly bitter, tea-like, dusty note in this that I don't find fitting for the rest of the scent. I think it must be coming from the artemisia or maybe the palm leaf, as it's somewhat green and dry. It's especially noticeable in the opening and almost completely gone in the drydown. I think some other noses could even find it balancing, as it breaks up the warm, sweet richness of the scent, but I'm not a fan.
I'm unsure how much it really bothers me though. Maybe if a bottle of Néa magically appeared in my room tomorrow I would just wear it and get used to it, but that won't happen. As it is, I love everything else about this scent but wouldn't buy it for that one reason.

I still wholeheartedly recommend to try it. It's unique and beautiful. I wish there was something just like this without any green notes, but I haven't found it yet.
On me this has great lasting power, I can always easily detect it the next day when I try it in the evening. It's not a light scent at all, I find it rather dense and enveloping.

Tinandanabila

At first my thought was “this is so feminine” so fruity and so sweet type of feminine. But then, my nose started to search and crave for it. Before bed, if I need some peaceful smiling scent, no doubt that I’ll go for her. Nea, you just mesmerized me. She’s very unique — I’ve never smell it anywhere else. Easily become my signature scent, i’d like to layer with with some musky notes to balance the sweetness.

Vannamae__

I’ve sampled and worn this fragrance 3 times now. If I were going off smell alone I would have just bought already but this perfume doesn’t even last 30 mins. Its frustrating, it’s like body spray performance. It’s got a big juicy nice opening then it’s gone and can only faintly be smelled on the skin but not wafting around me. It’s a soft skin scent in my opinion. You’ve probably heard that Oriana by PDM is a skin scent by many but I was able to get that to last 4-5 hours and it did project. I like to have some softer scents in my collection but not so soft I can’t smell it at all so soon and I can’t justify a full bottle at that asking price for something I can’t smell after 30 mins. Shame because I would have purchased a FB otherwise.

LovelyLifestyle

No need to buy this.
Go to walgreens and pick up a can of Tresseme hair spray.
There you go.

When I first put my nose on Néa, I knew this is love. A very peculiar composition as it is sweet and most definitely leans gourmand, but to my nose this also has an undeniable greenness, an herbal facet to it.

Néa opens with date, davana, pomegranate and pink pepper - a splash of fruit and spice, which then turns to floral heart of jasmine and rose accompanied by plums - on a bed of vanilla, tonka and caramel.

Luca Maffei created the blend and it is masterful; softly herbal and spicy, but altogether sweet and gourmand - but not in a sticky sweet way. In a comforting way where you can feel a heartwarming balance. If I am being honest, on my skin this smells like the most stunning red fruits tea. It reminds me of cold nights and the comfort of home.

Res berries, fruitiness, a soft touch of caramel and a sweet floral sensation accompanied by an aromatic, slightly bitter and green light - a sweet tartness if you will. I find it extremely beautiful.

emeraldwaters

I agree with the previous review. This has a sour tartness to it, due to the pomegranate. I was expecting a dark, plummy date fragrance, but the plum itself is a sour, not-yet-ripe note as well. The dates are almost too rich, making this immediately cloying and headache inducing. Maybe if this wasn’t an extrait but an EDT (something with lower perfume oil), this would be more bearable.

The green notes are there! But it’s not enough to detract from the strength of the sweet/tart combination going on. I’m not one to complain about a fragrance being too sweet or too strong, but it’s definitely an issue here. So glad I didn’t blind buy a full bottle.

mnitabach

Mega fruity sweet & sour, base is a muddled mess covered up with tons of musks, like you fell into a pre-production vat in Willy Wonka's chocolate factory.

Polinabar

Such a beautiful perfume. I’d say it’s perfect for a warmer weather. Getting lot’s of compliments on it, thought it’s much softer then perfumes I usually like. Sweet but with a sour note, perfect for spring/summer evening.

6opar

Most of JeM fragrances that I own smell graceful and flawless. They all have a much too polished character, or is it posh. I would call it glossy. Néa is the prime example. It’s so beautiful and chic that I feel bad for putting it on my raw and rough male skin.

What I get here is mostly pomegranate, grapes and rose marmalade. Delicious and wonderful. There’s a light green accord that balances the sweetness so that it does not become unbearable. One more top quality choice from Jul et Mad and Luca Maffei. This guy is one of the hottest perfumers at the moment and deservedly so.

Wow, a lot of fruit in this fragrance. I smell just a hint of woody notes. If I could imagine this fragrance as a scene, it would consist of gummy bears that were dripping in rum and honey while rolling around in dried wood. The longevity of this fragrance has been stronger than others that I’ve tried but alas, didn’t last more than 5 hours. I received one compliment from this fragrance compared to 5+ compliments from other fragrances that I’ve worn before.

Loredana0108

Burnt caramel and dates. Very unusual, definitely not your typical sweet gourmand fragrance. It is somehow sweet and green at the same time, with a smoky background. There is something that puts me off in this perfume, a note that is too harsh and bitter for me; palmleaf, pomegranate maybe? I can't figure it out. Hands down to this edgy, unconventional sweet fragrance (you can't say that about many recent releases, can you? :) and I really hope to start enjoying it more as time goes by.

Plummy caramel & tonka dates.

When i got a sample of this back in Jun 2016 i just didn't bother to review it as my intention was to know why did this won "the art and olfactive award 2016", honestly, i wasn't impressed at all back then, but today! i absolutely have no idea what was i thinking back then! It has that slight gourmand that swings between caramel, dates, and plums while at the same time you get the feeling of fruitti rather than a gourmand blend! i am now around 10 minutes and i just can't detect any other none gourmand notes like jasmines, artemisia, patchouli, and above them all, no black pepper nor roses! just sweet delicious sugary dates.

I don't myself believe in gender fragrances, & this is absolutely delicate and fits both men and women, but need a try before buy, so do yourself a favor and invest in a sample of this if you are planning to purchase full bottle according to notes or reviews, cause i myself didn't notice how good this juice is back then.

Edit (18th Aug 2017) The more i use the sample, the more this fragrance gets near "Across Sands" by Maison Martin Margiela, but softer and sweeter! Maybe the dates note that make both smell similar.

Seductive and extremely well-made!
This fragrance is devoted to Byzantine Church, built by Basil I between the years 876–80 and under the his personal supervision, in the south-eastern corner of the Great Palace complex. The Nea was to be Basil’s Hagia Sophia and played an important role in palace ceremonies. Its very name, "New Church", - meant beginning of a new era.
Used as a gunpowder storage by the Ottomans, the building was destroyed in 1490 after being struck by lightning. In English usage, the church is usually referred to as The Nea.

The perfumer tried to recreate the very heart of the Imperial Palace, - with its rich, opulent colours/notes, gourmand and floriental at the same time, succulent and delicious notes of caramel with dried fruits are surrounded by artemisia and palm leaf, just like the palace was surrounded by majestic gardens. It is deep, splendid combination of all notes ,that makes you craving for it more and more. Soft and inviting, making you so welcomed and loved. Lasting power is great, you constantly feel all sorts of levels coming up and down around your head.
Want to thank our lovely Ioli19 for test-opportunity, much obliged!

Glorious scent, it's fruity and sweet but not in a girly, candy way, my colleuge complimented me on this yesterday and said it reminded her of Dubai and the beautiful scents she had encountered there. I had to show her the bottle!

ScarlettX

This is a super strong oriental fragrance.
It's quite sweet, but in a very grown up way. I can sense dates, vanilla, caramel, tonka bean and amber.
It seemed a bit overwhelming to me at first, but in a couple of hours, it settles down very nicely.
It's very interesting smelling, spicy and sweet, quite complex, but not too confusing.
There's even some herbal green note in it.
It has a good longevity and huge sillage.
A very interesting product of quality.

JaneBluff

I just got this today and I am really enjoying it! It opens up a bit green (from the palm leaves?), with chewy, syrupy dried dates drizzled in caramel. The smell of green leaves gets lighter, just softly playing in the background as the caramel gets a bit stronger, like it's hardening up over the dates with little hints of ripe plums and fresh roses peeking through. The palm leaves and the patch clash a bit in the very beginning upon first spray but quickly mellow and fade into the background.

I will say that I don't find this similar to Note Vanille. I actually think it has more similarities to Mon Parfum Cristal and Flowerbomb though I find Flowerbomb to be a bit screechy but luckily Nea is much softer, and not as heavy.

First Impressions:

This is seriously delicious and so well blended! Fantastic fragrance!

Very fruity but with deep to it, not the simple girly scent.

b.gracious

Scent - dates, plum, caramel & patchouli.

Season/Time of Day - I prefer to use this one in the warmer months, day or night.

Projection - I didn't get noticed, I didn't get a compliment.

Longevity - I get 8hrs consistently.

Adelinne07

Néa opens with a gourmand mix of dry plums and dates, with just a hint of pomengranate sweetness. To my nose, the combination is mostly like a fruity-caramel sirup, liquid and sparkling, rather than dense and sticky like some gourmands tend to be. In about half an hour, the perfume migrates slowly towards the floral side and a perfect rose appears, with its fuchsia petals glowing, ready to embrace the composition. At this moment Néa shows to me another facet and I coud swear that there is a cherry note hidden between the flowers. This note is not listed, so maybe the jasmine and rose notes, mixed with the fruits like to play with my senses.
The base of the perfume is very warm and well balanced and I can detect a musky, somehow dirty accord, but in a good way, blended with a chocolatey patchouli, laid to rest on an inviting vanilla bed.

Néa surprised me in a good way, it is a soft and luminous gormand, like a coral cashmere sweater, warm and inviting and in my opinion it can be worn by women of all ages, because it simply has the power to destress and bring a smile on someone's face.

Delicoux

The colour of the juice reflects it's scent.
I personally love this fragrance.
On opening there is a pink rose, it is sweet and edible with juicy pomegranate and sticky dates.
The caramel is humming during the life of the scent, but what makes it truly unique is the smell of sitting under a Palm tree, it smells 'humid' and slightly salty.
I cannot think of another scent to compare it to, as I've said the Palm leaf addition to a scent is truly new to me.

I have tried other Jul Et Mad fragrances, this is the only one to entice me.
